Breast Augmentation
Each woman has a beautiful shape all her own, and breast surgery can help enhance one’s figure in many ways. If you are considering Breast Augmentation Breast surgery, you are not alone. It is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States. In addition to having the experience to achieve a beautiful result, Dr. Natoli understands a woman’s feelings about her breasts and how it can affect both her appearance and her feelings of femininity. You can improve the size, shape, symmetry, and proportion of your breasts subtly, dramatically, or somewhere in between, as determined by your needs and goals. Dr. Natoli is committed to giving you a new look with breasts that both look and feel natural.
Breast Augmentation with Implants
Breast augmentation with implants can enlarge naturally smaller busts or reshape breasts that have been affected by weight loss, pregnancy, or aging. Augmentation surgeries can be completely customized by the patient with several options for size, projection, placement and incision location. Breast implants, both saline and silicone, have proven to be a safe and effective cosmetic enhancement option that provides women with breasts that are fuller and more youthful in appearance.
When you meet with Dr. Natoli, you will discuss many options, as well as what you can expect before, during, and after the procedure. She will address all your concerns and, together, you will decide what is best to achieve your goals.
This procedure can also be combined with a breast lift to give the breasts a smoother, more “perky” aesthetic.
Saline Implants
Saline implants are made up of an outer silicone shell and are filled with saline or sterile salt water, to a pre-determined amount to give you the size of breast implants that you desire. If saline implants rupture, you’ll know immediately as your body instantly absorbs the completely harmless saline solution. Saline implants are approved by the FDA for use in women over 18.
Silicone Implants
Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone and mimics the natural feel of breasts more than saline implants do. Second, they tend to provide more natural looking results. Silicone implants also have a lesser risk of rippling and they are often more advantageous for women who are exceptionally thin or are undergoing breast reconstruction. Silicone implants are FDA-approved for use in breast augmentation patients who are over the age of 22.
Which Implant Type is Right for Me?
Dr. Natoli will describe the benefits of each type of breast implant to you, in detail, at your initial breast augmentation consultation. She will also give you the opportunity to see how you may look after surgery using Vectra 3-D imaging. This state of the art technology can also be manipulated to reflect different sizes and shapes of implants for comparison. The Vectra system offers you a chance to get a general idea of the possible results after breast augmentation surgery.

There are several ways your breast augmentation procedure can be performed by Dr. Natoli and each depends on factors such as breast size and your level of physical activity. Here are the different breast augmentation procedures Dr. Natoli will discuss with you during your consultation:
- Armpit (Transaxillary)
- Underside of the breast where it meets the chest (Inframammary)
- Areola area surrounding the dark-pigmented skin around the nipple (Periareolar)
Saline implants can be placed through a new and innovative technique called TUBA, or transumbilical breast augmentation. This technique places saline implants endoscopically through an incision in the navel, which results in a small, hidden scar. In TUBA procedures, breast implants can only be placed directly beneath the breast tissue.
Breast augmentation surgery usually takes two hours or less to complete and is performed under general anesthesia, administered by a highly trained anesthesiologist. It can also be with local anesthesia combined with a sedative. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis.
Breast augmentation procedures can be performed at our new, technologically advanced operating rooms located in Garden City. Our facility is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF), a distinction that signifies surgical environments operating under the highest standard of care.
Patients can expect to feel sore for a few days following a breast augmentation procedure, but this can be managed with medication. Some bruising, swelling, and numb sensation will likely affect the breasts and nipples within the first few weeks following the procedure. Stitches are typically removed within the first two weeks after surgery and patients can usually get back to their normal routines within a week.
Dr. Natoli will discuss further details of recovery and will let you know when you can return to daily activity and exercise.
