Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)

Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) can have a positive effect aesthetically on the entire face. It can increase or decrease the size of the nose, alter the shape of the nostrils, and even reduce the bridge or the tip of the nose. It can also assist those with nasal breathing issues.

Rhinoplasty is designed to help in many ways. Those who have a nasal tip that droops or is enlarged or too thick can benefit from nasal surgery. A nose that is too small or too large for the face or any asymmetry due to a prior injury can also be corrected with Rhinoplasty. Patients who need a correction from a deviated septum may also benefit from this procedure.

If you are looking to bring your nose into better balance with other facial features, Dr. Noel Natoli offers safe and effective nose surgery procedures to help you attain your goals. Patients who are dissatisfied with the results from a previous nose surgery performed somewhere else can benefit as well.

Rhinoplasty surgery can be performed by Dr. Natoli in a fully equipped surgery center that is certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF). This distinction is only given to facilities that strive for the highest standard of care.

RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE

A number of various techniques can be used to achieve the desired results in nose sculpting surgery, or Rhinoplasty. Traditionally, a rhinoplasty involves making an incision along the inside or outside of the nostrils. The nasal bone and cartilage are separated and then reshaped to attain your aesthetic goals. The incisions are closed, and a splint will be added to the nose to help it keep its new shape. Scarring from this procedure is barely visible, if at all, to others. Often times facial implant procedures such as chin augmentation or cosmetic injectable treatments may be combined with a rhinoplasty for a more complete makeover.

Rhinoplasty usually takes approximately 2 hours or less to complete under general anesthesia and can be performed as an outpatient procedure.

RHINOPLASTY RECOVERY
For at least a day following a rhinoplasty, elevation of the head is crucial. Any strenuous activity or heavy lifting should be avoided for at least 3 weeks and the nose needs to be protected from any potential harm. Swelling should be about 75 percent diminished after about a month, but patients can expect swelling and bruising in the nasal area for several days following the procedure. Any pain or discomfort a patient may have can be alleviated with medication. To facilitate in the healing process, patients should not blow their nose for at least a week after nose surgery. Nasal packing can be removed after a few days and normal daily activities can typically resume after about a week.
