Breast Lift Surgery

Factors such as pregnancy, nursing, weight loss or gain, and the natural aging process can cause breasts to lose their firmness and shape. Dr. Natoli performs a breast life to raise and reshape sagging breasts. During the procedure, incisions will be made around the skin-color line of the areola. It may extend vertically, down to the crease of the breast in the shape of a lollipop or extend further to a horizontal incision following the breast crease. How extensive the procedure will be depends on the current shape of the breasts, your goals, and the quantity and qualities of your skin and tissues. An implant may also supplement the lift as it can provide additional support and provide your desired firmness.

Although breast lift surgery can provide aesthetic benefits and improve self-confidence, it may not be the best option for everyone. Since pregnancy and breastfeeding can stretch the skin of the breasts, Dr. Natoli can discuss alternatives to breast lift surgery for women who are planning to have children.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Natoli will address any concerns and questions you may have about the procedure. Your consultation may also involve viewing a 3-D Vectra computer image that uses state of the art technology to show how you may look after surgery.

BREAST LIFT PROCEDURE

During the breast lift procedure, Dr. Natoli creates an incision around the areola following down to the crease of the breast. Excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is tightened. The breasts and nipples are lifted to a higher position, and the incisions closed. The entire procedure usually takes less than two hours to complete and is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.

Breast lift procedures can be performed at our new, technologically advanced operating rooms located in Garden City. Our facility is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF), a distinction that signifies surgical environments operating under the highest standard of care.

BREAST LIFT RECOVERY

After a breast lift procedure, some degree of bruising and swelling can be expected. Any residual scarring from the incisions should be very mild and should fade with time. You will be able to go back to work and resume normal daily activities within a week after surgery, depending on the type of lift you choose. It’s recommended, though, to avoid any strenuous exercise for the first few weeks following surgery.
